Fifth Day Lunch – Friday 30 June 2017

June 30, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Fifth Day Lunch

Following the success of the inaugural Fifth Day Lunch, the 2nd Lunch has now been set for the end of June, and one of the most celebrated Victorian personalities in recent years will be the after lunch speaker – Victoria’s top racehorse trainer, Darren Weir.

The Fifth Day Lunch Series is the brainchild of past players and Club Life Members, David Scott & Alan Naylor, and involves the Club hosting a series of semi-regular Friday afternoon Lunches at the McKinnon Hotel. The Lunches are open to all people and businesses from within the surrounding community to attend, and are not confined to just Ormond people.
They provide an opportunity for local people to come together at the McKinnon Hotel to socialise, be entertained, and to network.

Guests will enjoy a delicious two-course meal (inclusive of all drinks) and an entertaining conversation with Darren Weir, all for just $70 per person.

The 2nd Fifth Day Lunch will be held on Friday 30 June, 12 midday – 3.00pm.
Refer to the attached flyer –

For more information, contact Alan Naylor E: or M: 0427 206 551 to confirm your seat – strictly limited to only 90 people.

Darren Weir
Darren commenced training in 1995, and since then has steadily grown his horse training business. He has been leading Country Trainer since 2005 training over 100 winners each season, with an enviable winning strike-rate of 25%.
Darren won his first the Metropolitan Trainer Premiership in the 2013/14 season, and in doing so set a new benchmark finishing with 253 winners.
The 2015 Spring Racing Carnival has been the most memorable of Darren’s career with Stratum Star winning the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke and Lucky Hussler the Group 1 Toorak Handicap, and his biggest moment came on the biggest stage when Prince of Penzance claimed Australia’s most famous race, the Melbourne Cup ridden by Michelle Payne, beating one of the best fields ever assembled in more than 150 years.
