Ormond are out of B section after just one season after they narrowly lost to Hampton Rovers in a heart stopper at Hampton last Saturday.
After again starting slowly Ormond looked well and truly out of the contest at the main break being 28 points down in a low scoring game. However in the third quarter Ormond rallied and with excellent play on young ruckman Daniel Haysom got within 9 points at the final change.
An emotional coach, Russell Barnes pleaded with the players to give it all in the last quarter and even though they outscored Hampton in the final term they still were 4 points down when the final siren went.
There are promising signs for Ormond even though they will be in C section next year with youngsters like Haysom, Matthew Hine and Ryan Cameron having excellent games under the pressure of a finals like battle.
Wingers Wayne Cove and Ryan Martin also got plenty of the ball as did Simon Keleher in the last line of defence.
Justin Hoggan did well at half forward taking many contested marks and Daniel Brosnan was good in a roving role.
