COVID-19 Response – Update

It is fantastic for the players and coaches of the Ormond AFC that permission has been granted for a Return to Training, as a first step to kick-start Season 2020.

Return to Training commences Tuesday 2 June at EE Gunn Reserve.  Permission for training to commence follows a process whereby the Club has been able to demonstrate to the VAFA and to Glen Eira Council that the required protocols and processes that will ensure a safe training environment for all players and coaches, will be adhered to.

No date has yet been announced for Return to Play, although the most recent State Government statement suggests that community sport might Return to Play on Saturday 1 August.

A further condition of approval from Council and the VAFA to Return to Training, was that the Club appoint a COVID-19 Safety Officer.  We have appointed two:

– Greg Holman (M: 0438 540 058)

– Paul Kennedy (M: 0438 160 167)

I thank Greg and PK for jointly accepting this role, and all directions and requests by Greg and PK on all matters relating to COVID-19 must be accepted and carried out without question.  As part of their role, they completed a significant piece of work that was required by the VAFA and the Glen Eira Council for them to approve the Club’s application to Return to Train.  Two important documents prepared by Greg and PK collate all of the conditions, behaviours and procedures that our players and coaches must agree to adhere to during all training sessions, in order for the Club to comply with industry adopted Return to Train protocols.

All players and coaches must read and understand their respective information document, and formally accept it and agree that they will comply with all requirements.

The Committee is now turning its attention to planning the Club’s transition from Return to Training to Return to Play.  This will be a critical step to ensure that the Club not only emerges from ‘Iso’ with four competitive teams, but does in a way that will ensure that Season 2020 still provides you, OUR SUPPORTERS, with the excitement, connection and tribalism that you have all come to expect from a season of Ormond footy!!!

Go Monders!!
