Off-Season Recruiting Ramps Up

A couple of key recruits are calling Ormond home in 2020, including a playing assistant coach.

KIRBY McCONNON will be wearing the Brown n Blue next season as a Playing Assistant Coach.  He is a good mate of new Senior coach, Greg Hoskin, and a fellow McKinnon High PE teacher.

Kirby has played the past five seasons with powerhouse 1st Division Eastern Football League club, Vermont, playing in the past four Grand Finals for premierships in 2018 & 2019, and before that with Williamstown VFL in 2014 & 2015.

Kirby is a half-forward-mid who will bring outstanding experience and footy skills into the Senior squad.  A big factor in Kirby transferring to Ormond is his ambition to become a Senior coach.  He is thrilled to be commencing his coaching career with the Monders under the guidance of Greg, and Director of Football, Jason Burt.

HARRISON BURT remembers well his first senior match in 2015 for Ormond as a 16 year old at EE Gunn Reserve.  The experience laid the foundation for Harrison becoming a Monder for life, but not before chasing his AFL dream.

After going onto win the Ormond U16 B&F that season and playing U17s the following year, Harrison had a stint with the Sandy Dragons TAC team.  He then joined Box Hill VFL, and for the next three seasons (2017-2019) worked hard to consolidate himself in the premier tier of Victorian football, and when not selected for Box Hill played Premier A with De La Salle (2018 & 2019).

He is a half-back and wing, but is happy to slot into any position that the Coach finds for him in 2020.  It’s wonderful to have Harrison back at EE Gunn Reserve and become part of the resurgent Monders as they seek continued success.
